据中国互联网协会工作人员介绍，本次大会以“繁荣网络经济建设网络强国”为主题，聚焦“分享、融创、协同、生态”4个关键词，呈现经济发展的“新业态、新动能、新体验”，并透露“分享经济”将是本届大会的亮点之一。大会期间，将专门举办“分享经济论坛”。

党的十八届五中全会公报明确指出“发展分享经济”，这是第一次将分享经济写入党的全会决议中，标志着分享经济正式列入党和国家的战略规划。作为互联网时代下的“新经济”、“新商业”形态，“分享经济”正在改变传统的经济模式。

据国家信息中心信息化研究部及中国互联网协会分享经济工作委员会联合发布的《中国分享经济发展报告2016》数据，2015年中国分享经济市场规模约为19560亿元；中国分享经济领域参与提供服务者约为5000万，约占劳动人口总数的5.5%；保守估计，参与分享经济活动的总人数已经超过5亿人。

随着“互联网+”的触角延伸至各个方面，“分享经济”的市场空间不断被拓展。分享经济既能激活闲置资源、提高资源配置效率，也能让参与者收获分享红利、实现多方互利共赢。

在国外，具有代表的分享经济模式是Uber和Airbnb，前者提供出行车辆服务，后者提供旅游租房服务。截至目前，Uber已覆盖全球60个国家和地区的310个城市，估值超过500亿美元，成为全球估值最高的非上市公司。而Airbnb旗下拥有的租住房间也远超国际酒店巨头希尔顿。在国内，分享经济的主要代表有提供出行服务的滴滴快的和神舟租车，提供旅游短租服务的木鸟短租等。

作为一种新经济模式，分享经济正在向金融租赁、物流运输、教育培训、广告创意等领域大范围渗透，并将成为主流商业模式。如今分享经济正面临从起步到起飞的重要转折点，可以想象，在信息革命加速重构世界经济版图的关键时期，这一新经济模式有望成为又一个“风口”。
