雅虎曾用投资阿里巴巴所得的资金投注Snap，外媒猜测Snap是否有可能借雅虎慧眼成为下一个阿里巴巴。尽管Snap的IPO仅次于阿里巴巴，不过Snap在IPO之后头两个月的时间里带给雅虎的回报却无法和阿里巴巴相提并论。两个月的时间雅虎对Snap的投资仅增值一倍，当初阿里巴巴却在同样的时间里给雅虎带去了43倍的回报。

随着Verizon收购雅虎，后者所有的投资组合（包括所持Snap和阿里巴巴股票）都将转入“Alitaba”。Alitaba为雅虎将核心业务出售之后更名而成的投资公司。华盛顿邮报曾调侃这个名字可能是英文单词“alternative”(词义：备选、替代品)与阿里巴巴公司英文名“Alibaba”的结合体。Altaba所管理的资金资产总额总计约合600亿美元。
