Irdeto委托美国知名民意调查公司YouGov为其进行这项调查工作，YouGov花费了约一周时间对1000余名美国成年人进行了该项调查。

美国对于专利内容有较为完善的法律保护体系，在部分州如果被发现下载盗版内容可能会面临指控，所以在这项调查中承认自己下载过盗版内容并非易事，说不准会被有关监管部门监控，所以32%的调查结果可能比实际情况偏低。

这份报告中还指出，在被告知盗版内容可能使得许多公司亏钱，从而导致研发资金降低后，相关优秀内容可能会被耽搁，仍有约39%的人认为下载盗版内容并没有什么严重影响。
