United States professional networking site LinkedIn released the 2016 fiscal year unaudited financial results for the third quarter ended September 30. Results showed that LinkedIn's third-quarter revenue of $ 960 million, an increase of 23% based on United States generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), net profit of $ 8.6 million, achieved a net loss of $ 47.4 million in the same period last year.

On June 11, LinkedIn reached a merger agreement with Microsoft. Under the agreement, Microsoft used cash to buy LinkedIn $ 196.00/share, worth about $ 26.2 billion, including LinkedIn with net cash. On August 19, LinkedIn shareholders voted to approve the merger agreement. LinkedIn trading is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
