北京作为全国首个开通公交免费WiFi的城市，此前的上网体验一直不尽人意，最为乘客诟病的是，不少车辆根本上不去网，设备成了“摆设”。16WiFi创始人邱朝敏坦言，之前北京公交车上使用的硬件设备和软件系统都是3年前的1.0产品，小修小补已无济于事。此次公司投入巨资，将原有12000辆车上的旧设备全部拆除换新，同时新增配置6000辆车。

他介绍，从今天开始，近200辆300路都会在明显位置张贴蓝色的提示贴，车贴上有“每次上车打开APP即可上网”字样。今年9月底前，1.8万辆公交车将全部正式开通，北京的公交WiFi将从此步入4.0时代。

他表示，公交16WiFi不仅为乘客提供免费上网服务，还为乘客量身打造了各种精彩内容和实用功能，在APP内有新闻资讯、移动搜索、视频、小说、游戏、网站导航、生活服务等各种内容，还有公交实时查询、同车同线路社交等功能，让路上的时间不再无聊。

据介绍，从7月12日到8月11日的一个月内，乘客在北京任一300路公交车内，只要发现该车的公交WiFi不能正常连网，即可通过16WiFi微信公众号进行反馈报修(两张截图：16WiFiAPP中不能连网页面和个人信息页面；两个号码：车号和手机号)。经核实后，将对当日该车第一位有效报修者予以1G全国流量的奖励——600颗“钻石”会充入获奖用户16WiFiAPP帐号内，无论移动、联通、电信用户，均可兑换1G全国流量。

目前，16WiFi已签约全国70个城市、20万辆公交车，在未来一年时间内计划完成安装建设，其中昆明已于今年5月13日正式开通，“北上广深”等首批九大城市紧随其后。
