叶选宁 2016年7月10日，澎湃新闻从叶选宁亲属及广州市殡仪馆等处获悉，政协第八届全国委员会委员、第九届全国委员会常委，解放军原总政治部联络部部长，叶剑英次子叶选宁因病医治无效，于2016年7月10日1时10分在广州逝世，享年79岁。
据叶选宁亲属提供的讣告显示，叶选宁的告别仪式定于2016年7月14日上午10时，在广州市银河殡仪馆白云厅举行。
叶选宁曾化名岳枫，广东梅县雁洋人，1938年9月生于香港。叶选宁在“十大元帅”之一叶剑英的6个子女中排行第三，故自称“叶三”，在他之前的是长子叶选平和长女叶楚梅。
据中国共产党新闻网2013年3月转载的广东省委党史研究室主管主办刊物《红广角》文章《儿女情长——慈父叶剑英》显示，叶选宁母亲曾宪植系曾国藩后裔。后因革命工作需要，1939年，叶选宁在未满周岁时就被送回湖南双峰县荷叶镇大坪村大夫第，由曾宪植的继母刘俭明抚养。

据《羊城晚报》报道，叶选宁在自述中回顾了幼时至今与书法的缘分：“1岁抓周抓了支毛笔……我妈妈的一家，无论男女老幼，都写得一手好字。所以，我也喜欢写字，希望自己的字能写好。没有什么章法，喜欢什么字就临什么字，不断地写。本人写字多是抄古人的，见到好的、喜欢的，都抄百遍以上，坚持写到今天。”
叶选宁的书法之路曾两次面临中断：第一次发生在31岁那年，叶选宁右臂受伤，功能全失，若要继续写字，必须从右手变成左手，但“仅余一臂亦可练字”；41岁时，他决定重新开始，直至73岁时大病一场，“鬼门关上一游，视力日差，腰腿也渐力不从心，字又写不出来了，再度从头来过。”
2015年4月18日，“晴耕雨读·叶选宁习字展”开幕式在广东美术馆举行，久未露面、年近八旬的的叶选宁坐在轮椅上出席了开幕式，他向出席开幕式的亲朋好友及观众表示感谢。
