另一方面，澳大利亚运输安全局发言人于当地时间9日表示，正在对几块新残骸的影像进行检查。这些残骸一块被冲上澳大利亚南岸外的坎加鲁岛(Kangaroo Island)，另外两块据报是在马达加斯加发现的。

马航370客机在2014年3月8日从吉隆坡飞往中国北京的途中失联。2015年1月29日，马来西亚民航局宣布该航班客机失事，并推定机上239名乘客和机组人员全部遇难。
