钟奇伟介绍说，4月27日，晏先生到分宜县杨桥农商银行办理取现业务，办理完毕之后转身就走，将一个塑料袋子遗忘在柜台上，袋子里面就装有他的银行卡，卡的背面写有密码。几分钟过后，一名黄衣男子来到柜台前办理业务，他发现了柜台上的银行卡，并把这张卡拿起来，但他没有告诉银行工作人员，而是直接放进了自己的口袋。很快，黄衣男子拿着捡来的卡离开了，第二天凌晨1点多钟，黄衣男子戴着眼镜和口罩，来到银行自动取款机取钱。

随后，警方根据监控拍到的嫌疑人外貌特征进行了调查，并很快锁定了一名黄姓中年男子，不过也许是做贼心虚，5月17日，嫌疑人黄某带着全部赃款来到了公安局投案自首，最终，市民晏先生被取走的钱失而复得。
