“我们密切关注路跑联赛发生的不文明行为，一旦认定肇事者，非但要将其排除在路跑系列赛事之外，而且将根据事态发展，考虑采取法律措施的可能性。”全国10公里路跑联赛西安站赛事组委会负责人今晚告诉记者，“目前，肇事者还没有找到，我们已经向公安机关寻求帮助，也希望知情者积极提供相关线索，协助我们尽快解决此事。”
4月27日，全国10公里路跑联赛西安站比赛出现令人瞠目结舌的一幕：参加专业组10公里比赛的兰州选手张宝强在比赛途中遭遇袭击——另一位参加公开组5公里路跑的选手先后两次推搡和踢打张宝强，在赛道旁保安的劝阻下，张宝强挣脱开那位号码布号码为24842的选手继续跑向终点，最终获得专业组第二名。
张宝强本人的描述更加翔实，“开始人多，有点儿挤，他总在后面绊我，我骂了几句，他就把我推倒在地上开始打我，然后有个保安过来看，我就爬起来继续跑”。
路跑联赛西安站比赛在曲江池遗址公园进行，比赛约有5000人参加，赛道一圈约5公里，张宝强要跑两圈才能完成10公里的赛事，“我第二圈跑回来的时候，那个人又带着另外一个人拦住我，把我推到旁边打我，还扯下了我的号码布，这两次意外浪费了我大概5分钟的时间，我最后完成比赛是第二名。”
被抢走号码布的张宝强最终凭借计时芯片数据得到组委会的认可，而在张宝强向组委会反映了情况之后，组委会开始查找肇事者，并在支付张宝强医药费的同时，向张宝强发放第一名的奖金。
张宝强在比赛当晚离开西安返回兰州——据记者了解，张宝强运动员身份隶属于甘肃省体育局，他本人学籍在西北民大，知情人介绍，张宝强家人已经向警方报案，“张宝强在中长跑方面实力很强，今年还拿过全国田径大奖赛5000米和万米冠军，他参加过很多马拉松比赛的专业组赛事，成绩都不错，路跑联赛也参加过好几次了。”
随着近年来马拉松运动在国内雨后春笋般迅猛增长，全国10公里路跑联赛在2012年应运而生——“国内马拉松比赛几乎是井喷式的增长，首先这说明民众的参与热情非常高，大家都意识到健身的重要性，另外跑步这项运动的形象非常健康，入门门槛很低，适合普通人群，现在跑步在很多城市人群中已成为一种生活方式，以前很多白领周末在家睡觉或者约着逛街，现在改约跑步，这就是健康意识的进步。”一位参与路跑联赛赛事运作的工作人员告诉记者，“对普通人来说，42.195公里的马拉松过于专业了，他们的目的就是健身，需要一个合适的距离来保持跑步的乐趣，避免过分消耗伤害身体。所以，很多城市的马拉松赛都配套有5公里和10公里、半程马拉松几个组，方便大家各取所需，而且通过专家论证，10公里这个距离适合中高级跑步爱好者测试自身水平，所以以联赛形式组织的10公里路跑，一推出来就赢得了很多人的认可。”
2012年，首届路跑联赛试探性开放了西安、深圳和上海3个赛段，2013年路跑联赛增至8个城市赛段，而今年的路跑联赛则有深圳、重庆、西安、长沙、上海、武汉、青岛、苏州、大连和北京总共10个城市参与，在组织者的设想中，“和中国庞大的健身需求人口数量相比，有100个城市参加都不算多”，但路跑联赛西安站风波，却让组织者不得不重新审视赛事的运作质量。
“我们也觉得这件事很蹊跷，只有找到打人者才能了解事情真相。”路跑联赛工作人员告诉记者，“张宝强参加的是专业组10公里比赛，打他的那个人报名参加的是公开组5公里的比赛，两个人的组别完全不同，不存在任何竞争关系，至于有跑友怀疑打人者是受人指使，我个人觉得可能性不大，因为参加专业组比赛的都是中国田协注册运动员，小纠纷还可以理解，动手打人已经触及法律了，何况前8名的奖金相差不是很大。”
路跑联赛比赛共分3组：注册运动员参加专业组10公里比赛，男女前8名均有奖金，男子第1名奖金1万元，第2名奖金6000元，第3名4000元，第8名1000元，每站比赛后即可兑现；公开组10公里非专业人士均可报名，每站比赛男女前8名均可获得赞助商提供的运动装备一套，而当年所有站次比赛结束，联赛年终积分排名前8的公开组跑友，则可获得3万元(第1名)至3000元(第8名)不等现金奖励；公开组5公里比赛则不设奖金、不颁发纪念牌和比赛证书，只有男女前8名获得赞助商提供的运动装备作为奖励。
“这次事件反映出我们在赛事组织方面不够严谨，肇事者号码布上的号码很明显，但这次公开组5公里大约3000人报名，组委会没有做到对照证件一对一发放号码布，跑友都是凭借证件随机拿走一张号码布，所以组委会无法第一时间锁定肇事者。”路跑联赛工作人员称，“组委会应当吸取教训，完善赛事组织工作，避免恶性事件再次发生。”
