　　据施工方——上海隧道工程公司项目总工张轶介绍，武汉公铁两用过江隧道设左右两条线，长度均为2599米，最大埋深达40米。根据规划每条隧道内部分为三层，上层是公路隧道排烟道，中间是公路3条车道，下层为地铁7号轨道线及电缆廊道、排烟道和逃生通道等。

　　武汉公铁两用过江隧道直径达15.76米，相当于5层楼高，其截面高度和宽度超过了该市业已建成的首条公路隧道和首条铁路隧道，是中国国内最大的隧道工程，一般的隧道盾构机无法完成该隧道盾构工作。为此，施工方耗资8亿元，特意从德国定制了两台“超大”盾构机，其刀盘直径接近16米，预计明年从德国运抵武汉。届时，盾构机将从武昌风井出发，穿越长江向汉口方向掘进，预计2017年2月隧道贯通。

　　武汉社科院专家李春洋指出，长江大桥与长江二桥组成的武汉内环线，是武汉中心城区的核心区，过江交通需求旺盛。尽管武汉在这个区间建成了中国首条穿越长江的公路隧道和地铁隧道，但仍然满足不了需求。同时该区域过江桥隧选址的资源比较有限，此番开建第一条公铁两用过江隧道，对节约有限的过江桥隧资源，促进武汉经济社会均衡发展等方面具有重要意义。(完)
