Xinhuanet, Zhongqing, January 29 (reporter Zhang Qin)-China's first underwater archaeology ship launched recently in Chongqing undergoing sea trials, expected formal archaeological work in late May.

It was manufactured by the China Chongqing Dongfeng shipbuilding industry company archaeological boat, displacement of 860 tons, using electric propulsion engine to meet navigational requirements of 2000 nautical miles, attacks against the 8 waves. The main work area for our coast, under the sea conditions allow, to the Xisha waters.

Chongqing Municipal science and Technology Commission experts, this archaeological vessels will take up underwater archaeological excavations, conservation of underwater cultural relics, relics protection display of publicity functions. It will be used for coastal protection of the underwater cultural heritage in China, take censuses, dedicated surveys of underwater cultural heritage and the small shovel. Through various means of geophysical exploration, identify, qualify and locate underwater cultural relics, to explore, protect, provide accurate information. Mapping of underwater relics recording, photography, site clearance, extraction, heritage and preliminary processing of water heritage, escrow, etc.

　　新华网重庆1月29日电 （记者张琴）我国第一艘水下考古船近日在重庆下水试航，预计5月中下旬可正式进行考古作业。

　　这艘由重庆长航东风船舶工业公司制造的考古船，排水量为860吨，使用全电力推进动力方式，能够满足2000海里的航行需求，抵御8级风浪的袭击。其主要工作海域为我国沿海，在海况允许下，可至西沙海域。

　　重庆市科委专家介绍，这艘考古船将担负起水下文物考古发掘、水下文物保护、文物保护展示宣传的功能。它将用于我国沿海水下文化遗产保护工作，承担水下文化遗产的普查、专项调查及小型发掘工作。通过配备的各种物探手段，发现、确认和定位水下文物遗存，为发掘、保护提供准确信息。对水下遗存进行测绘记录、摄影摄像、遗址清理、提取文物以及对出水文物进行初步处理、暂时保管等。
