近日，一篇题为《中国正偷偷燃烧一种比煤炭更肮脏的燃料》的文章被传开；元旦过后，署名为“英达姐姐”写的《雾霾真相——进口高硫石油焦》又开始疯传。两篇文章都把矛头对准了“石油焦”，均表示这是一种比煤炭更“脏”的燃料，而且中国还在大量进口。
随后媒体辟谣，前一篇文章实际是2014年的旧文，后一篇文章也并非英达姐姐所写。然而，简单辟谣已不能服众，只有科学事实和准确的数据才能打消公众疑虑。那到底什么是“石油焦”？它真的与雾霾有关联吗？

数据显示，两广、江苏、福建等地的石油焦进口量比较多。 京津冀地区只有天津有少量进口，北京地区的进口量极低，所以石油焦并非是京津冀地区雾霾的主要贡献物质。
2015年8月，《中华人民共和国大气污染防治法》二次修订案中明确规定，2016年禁止进口、销售和燃用不符合品质标准的石油焦。
2016年12月22日，国家能源局和环保部又联合发布通知，要求京津冀鲁等大气污染防治重点区域和重点城市，禁止审批建设自备燃石油焦火电（含热电）项目。
目前，针对石油焦的管理使用政策陆续出台，只要按规定安装脱硫脱销设备，监管到位、执法严格，石油焦不会加重雾霾。
