北京化工大学的副教授、博士生导师刘勇介绍说，实验采用的样本是使用10天左右的防霾鼻罩的滤芯，通过扫描电子显微镜放大2000倍左右，能清晰地看到附着在滤芯材料纤维上的微米级大小的雾霾颗粒。据他介绍，通过实验看到的主要是固态的雾霾颗粒，有碳酸钙、氧化铁、硫酸盐等，非固态的气溶胶则要通过另外的方式才能看到。
