新华社北京10月7日电（记者白国龙、余晓洁）中国航天科技集团董事长雷凡培在中国航天事业创建60周年之际透露，中国计划2018年前后发射空 间站试验性核心舱，2022年前后发射20吨级舱段组合的空间站。到2024年国际空间站退役时，中国可能成为全球唯一拥有空间站的国家。
雷凡培表示，中国空间站建设方案已确定。空间站包括一个核心舱和两个实验舱，有多个交会对接口，能实现多飞行器同时对接。2018年前后，空间站试验性核心舱将由“长征五号”运载火箭送入轨道。2022年前后，中国将研制并发射基本模块为20吨级舱段组合的空间站。
此后空间站每年与载人飞船、货运飞船对接若干次进行补给，在400公里左右的轨道高度上维持设计寿命十年的运行。届时，中国将成为继俄罗斯之后，以一国之力独自完成空间站建设的国家，航天员在空间站驻留可达一年以上。
中国载人航天工程办公室副主任杨利伟曾接受采访说，中国空间站预留了很多将来与世界各国进行合作的平台，在空间站发展中，中国愿意以更加开放的姿态在方案设计、设备研制、空间应用、航天员培养、联合飞行等方面拓展交流合作。
1992年中国确立了载人航天工程“三步走”的发展战略。第一步为载人飞船阶段，第二步为空间实验室阶段，第三步为空间站阶段，即在太空建立短期自主飞行、长期有人照料的大型空间站。
今年9月15日，中国首个真正意义上的空间实验室“天宫二号”发射成功，拉开了中国载人航天工程的第二步第二阶段的帷幕，这将是中国建设空间站之前最后一次全面的技术验证。
按计划，10月中旬，2名航天员将乘坐“神舟十一号”载人飞船在距地面393公里的轨道上与“天宫二号”对接，完成30天的中期驻留，以此突破和掌握再生式生命保障等空间站关键技术，开展一定规模的空间应用，为中国后续空间站建造和运营奠定基础、积累经验。
