Japan 5th autumn "scientific whaling" activities intended to hunt up to 51 minke in about two months.

据共同社报道，日本春季捕鲸活动一般在宫城县三陆地区附近海域进行，秋季捕鲸活动在北海道钏路港附近海域进行。

海洋守护者协会曾多次在南太平洋海域派船跟踪日本捕鲸船并阻止其猎杀鲸。本周，日本方面与美国海洋守护者协会达成一份协议，后者今年将不会在南太平洋海域阻扰日本捕鲸船。

不过，澳大利亚海洋守护者协会8月25日表示，海洋守护者协会的美国分支与澳大利亚分支互不干涉，因此澳大利亚海洋守护者协会仍会设法阻扰日方捕鲸活动。
