8月25日消息，来自香港金融管理局的消息称，日前该机构根据《支付系统及储值支付工具条例》向5家储值支付工具(SVF)发行人发放SVF牌照，其中就包括支付宝香港公司和八达通卡有限公司。

据悉，获得香港金融管理局SVF牌照的五家公司分别是支付宝香港公司、HKT、财富数据、TNG以及八达通。其中支付宝香港公司、HKT、财富数据、TNG 4家公司的支付牌照于2016年8月25日生效，而八达通的牌照将于2016年11月13日起生效。

资料显示，支付宝最早在2007年开始进入香港市场，从官方公布的数据来看，截止今年7月，香港已有近6000家线下实体店铺开通了支付宝付款。获得SVF牌照后，支付宝将直面香港最大的竞争对手八达通。

八达通于1997年推出，是香港通用的电子收费系统，几乎适用于香港所有的公共交通工具以及大型连锁店。据了解，目前香港市面上流通的八达通超过3000万，每天交易笔数超过1300万，涉及金额超过1.69亿港币。
