　　53岁的朱火祥是新洲旧街九明湾村村民，家在当地人称之为沙河的河边。他说，上月25日下午，他在河堤上看见河中有一条鱼，鱼很大，正逆流往上，因为河中有个浅滩，鱼可能游不动了就用尾巴拍打河水，溅起大浪花，他走到河边，见鱼个头不小，足足有十多斤，他于是赶紧打电话叫朋友带着网来捞鱼。等朋友捞完了鱼，他突然看见河床淤泥下有青石板。

　　这块青石板引起朱火祥的注意，想到以前九明湾曾经发现过古墓，他怀疑这个石板可能是古墓的一部分。次日上午，他通过114查询到武汉市文物局的电话，将情况向文物部门汇报。

　　朱火祥说，当时他也不能确认是不是古墓，还特意回家查了查家谱，发现他的家族在四五百年前就从江西搬迁到新洲了。他于是认为，石板是古墓一部分的可能性很大。

　　今日一早，文物部门来到现场进行了发掘。当地村干部介绍，因为墓在河床中，在专家的指导下，他们调来挖机，在墓周围筑起一个小围堰，再用抽水机将围堰中的水抽出。然后，四名村民动手，人工刨开了覆盖在石板上的一尺多厚的淤泥，发现果然是个墓。

　　今日傍晚6时许，楚天都市报记者赶到现场看到，围堰将古墓围了起来，但围堰中的水还没有抽干。经过发掘，古墓形状大体呈现。古墓呈长方形，长约三四米，宽约1.5米，顶部覆盖着七块石板。

村干部介绍，发掘工作还将继续。他们已经安排人员在古墓边通宵职守，确保古墓不遭破坏。

　　村委委员孙先生说，七月初，沙河也发了大水，可能这才冲掉了覆盖在古墓上面的淤泥，露出石板。

　　古墓怎么会在河床上？多位当地村民介绍，以前这里并非河，1969年之前，这里是村庄，后来因为要将河水改道，村民就都迁走了，后来这里才成了河道。

　　新洲区文物管理所潘所长介绍，接到朱火祥的报告后，市区两级文物部门很重视，经过研究，决定开始进行抢救性发掘，从目前发掘的情况看，这座古墓可能是宋代的古墓，距今已经有七八百年历史，他们预计今天将围堰中的水抽干之后，揭开石板，打开古墓。之后，他们再根据墓内器物等判断古墓的准确年代。

　　潘所长告诉记者，目前，这是新洲发掘出的第一座宋代石室古墓。
