YouTube这一应用也不是立刻向所有用户同步开放，而是先由极少数有影响力的大咖使用。至于其所称“很快”推广到所有用户的具体时间点，苏珊·沃西基也没有明确给出。
据介绍，新功能推出后，YouTube的App界面上会多出一个“捕捉”键，点击后就拍摄一张照片作为封面，写一段简单描述后，就能开始直播。直播过程中可以选择是否开启聊天功能，也可选择是否通知订阅者你已开始直播。
社交基础设施的打造，是谷歌的一个软肋。当初谷歌有意将Google+账号和YouTube账号强行打通，但由于用户体验太差而招致众怒，最终只好作罢，将二者解绑。社交属性远远不如Facebook和Twitter，或许正是YouTube迟迟未开放移动直播的原因之一。
但YouTube并非完全没有优势，在理论上，它还是有机会凭借平台多年来积攒的内容创造者资源，通过提供高品质内容而后来居上。
