Calling for a boycott of dog meat section of petitions in Yulin also appeared in London.

　　【环球网综合报道】据新加坡《联合早报》6月11日消息，一年一度的广西玉林“荔枝狗肉节”将从本月21日开始举行，20多名动物保护者昨天在北京的玉林市政府驻京办外请愿，要求停办这个节日。

　　《中时电子报》介绍，动物保护者提出有1100万人联署的请愿书，并带着狗群和写着标语的布条。

　　英国广播公司(BBC)披露，据统计每年亚洲国家和地区都会宰杀大约3000万只狗用于食用，其中中国的宰杀数量占了三分之一强。

　　抗议玉林狗肉节的人士指责说，许多在该节被食用的狗是偷来的、或是走失后被抓的。他们还指责这些狗在被宰杀前，都被关在拥挤、肮脏的笼子里。

　　而支持狗肉节的人士认为，食用狗肉对身体有益，而且吃狗肉与吃其他家畜并无不同。
