发现邮票的经过充满奇情，一个名为奥尼尔的男子日前带着邮票到纽约一家拍卖行准备出售邮票，但拍卖行人员认为这枚邮票价值不菲，便联络了警方及联邦调查局，向奥尼尔问话。

奥尼尔声称邮票是已故祖父留下来的遗物，他得知邮票是失物后，表示愿意交出邮票，当局于2日将邮票捐赠予美国集邮研究图书馆。

“倒置的珍妮”是错体邮票，上面错误印上一架倒转的JN-4HM双翼客机，面值仅为0.24美元。邮票于1918年印制，全张共100枚，后来被分割出售。不过，其中四枚在1955年失窃，至今只找回三枚，仍有一枚不知踪影。

同款的另一枚邮票刚于1日在纽约一个拍卖会上售出，被一名私人买家以120万美元购得。
