夏普公司目前处于重组期，其裁员规模将从1000人升至2000人，此举也体现了其母公司中国台湾鸿海的想法，夏普仍然在考虑这一轮裁员的具体规模、政策等。过去的裁员主要是根据员工的工作时间，而这一次，夏普可能会考虑减少业绩不佳工厂的员工人数，因此受影响比较大的仍可能是太阳能业务和储能电池业务的员工。

虽然富士康名义上已经是夏普的新东家，不过富士康的收购资金到账最后截止日期是今年的10月5日，因此富士康目前还难以立刻涉足到夏普的日常管理决策中，因此夏普新的2000人裁员举措，可能是管理层面对糟糕的业绩不得已而为之。

2012年，夏普在液晶面板领域的投资出现失误，公司几乎破产，当年夏普推出了自愿提前退休计划，减少了3000名员工，去年由于业绩继续糟糕，夏普再一次裁减了3200人。
