据新加坡《联合早报》网站4月24日援引英国广播公司的报道称，印尼法律、政治和安全协调部长发言人阿古斯·巴纳斯在接受BBC采访中说，“两国（印尼与中国）没有交换（囚犯）协议。我们感谢中方送回何筱昆，但是中国籍嫌犯的案子和印尼腐败逃亡分子的案子是完全不同的两件事。”
