杨元庆坦言：“联想过去一段时间做的不太好。中国市场比较复杂，是成熟市场和新兴市场的混合体，市场竞争也是全世界最激烈的，不但品牌多，业务模式也有所不同，联想之前主要通过运营商来做，现在通过下调补贴，转向线上市场。”

谈及4月1日即将实施的架构调整，杨元庆表示，新设立创投集团是因为联想之前有一个研究院，但是研发出来的很多技术，联想内部都无法有效使用。所以在新的架构下，会把之前进入不了主流业务的技术，以创投孵化的方式拿出去创业。

“孵化器做也肯定是做跟联想战略、IT发展趋势相关的，绝不会做跨过IT行业的事情。”杨元庆表示，“今年我给团队提出的目标是从联想内部要分出去10家公司，这些肯定都是有一定技术积累或者是有业务模式雏形的，其中包括一些智能硬件以及服务类公司。”

当被问及此前外界对联想及杨元庆本人的质疑时，杨元庆表示：“联想对善意的关心爱护都是感激的。对于联想来说，没有人能够比我更热爱、倾注的感情更多，我现在是联想控股以外联想最大的股东，我当然会尽自己最大的努力把联想带回上升的轨道去。”

关于对联想盈利能力的质疑，杨元庆回应说：“我们之前在PC领域登上了一座山峰，现在发展新业务就如同要攀登另一座更高的山峰，这中间肯定会有一个下山的过程，而这个过程中，不能指望新业务一开始就盈利，势必会消耗核心业务所赚取的利润。如果联想不去做手机和服务器，我相信呈现的利润数字会更好看。”
