利得博士还指出，首次关于“OK”的文字记录是在1839年3月23日的一份《波士顿晨报》上，行文摘录如下：“作为报人的他……将拥有一个‘奉献专栏’，等等，完全正确（原文为：O.K.—all correct），他将使火花塞飞起、发出火花，直冲霄汉。”同年7月，“OK”一词已流传到美国的南方，传到纽约，并很快得到公众的接受。
