据《科技日报》报道，2016年3月4日，航天科技集团中国运载火箭技术研究院原党委书记梁小虹委员表示，国家即将批准设立“航天日”。

梁小虹说，近五年，他每年都递交设立航天节日的提案，还请到39名院士签字呼吁，终于有了结果。他曾对媒体表示，设“航天日”不是航天人过节，而是想让青少年关注科学，关注太空事业，强化社会尊重科学家的氛围。
