去年7月21日，该电站36万千瓦首台机组通过试运行，成功并网发电，转入商业运行。接下来的5个月里，2号机组和3号机组顺利通过72小时带负荷试运行，正式并网发电。
然而，一系列的精心论证，并没有阻止闸门被水冲走的现实。

“至于间接损失并不难算”，该人士告诉《中国企业报》记者，根据公开资料显示，该电站第一、二台机组总发电量为72万千瓦(第三台机组发电量没有公布)，如果仅以第一、二台机组发电来算，该电站每小时发电72万千瓦，一天的发电量为1728万度。如果把第三台机组发电所得抛开，以每度电1角钱计算，电站每天损失将达到170余万元，300天的损失大约5亿元左右。
该人士还透露，位于金沙江边的一家糖厂，其搬迁之后，本来打算在水库蓄水后，就利用水库的水作为生产用水。殊不知，其搬迁之后，水库被放干了，榨糖季节刚刚来临，糖厂老板心急如焚，多次找到鲁地拉水电开发公司理论，鲁地拉水电开发公司给了糖厂一笔赔偿金，让糖厂自己打井取水作为生产用水。
4月3日的鲁地拉公司股东会议上，还讨论了两份重要文件：2013年经营情况及2014年经营目标的议案，以及2013年财务决算及审计情况和2014年财务预算的议案。
会议还要求，抓好工程建设收尾工作，确保尾工工程质量，加快工程验收及完工结算进程，同时合理进行生产经营工作安排，机组恢复发电及后续机组投产时序安排，提高生产经营管理水平。

《中国企业报》记者获悉，目前，鲁地拉电站工程已基本具备全面投产发电条件。遗憾的是这个条件推迟了将近一年。
金沙江鲁地拉水电站2007年2月土建工程开始动工，该项目未经环评审批已于2009年1月截流，对金沙江中游生态影响较大。
2008年，当地突然遭遇强降雨，还引发了鲁地拉水电站工地左岸的鲁地拉村发生泥石流灾害。泥石流造成8人遇难，1人失踪。
环保部则认为，金沙江中游河段的水电梯级开发的环评还需要深入研究，尤其是流域沿途的鱼类和水生生态问题要统筹考虑。
于是责令该项目停止主坝建设。停工的理由，一是主坝修建违反程序，未批先建；二是整个流域规划还待重新论证。
“原来金沙江流域的规划是按照1990年的《长江流域规划》而规划，上世纪50年代，云南在有关专家的帮助下，对金沙江中游的地质、水文情况进行勘探，并做出了初步的中游水电开发规划”。有关人士告诉记者：“但因为没有钱，金沙江干流的开发一直闲置。”
