Korea's second-largest Portal Daum (all-around player PotPlayer parent company) announced today that Korea first mobile IM Kakao Kakao Talk's parent company merged into Daum Kakao, as Kakao is not yet listed, the market value is difficult to estimate the combined Daum Kakao, however there is speculation Daum Kakao's market value could reach 3 trillion won (18.26 billion yuan).

On the 23rd of this month the two companies signed a merger agreement, and will be held in August this year the shareholders, is expected to be completed before October 1 merger. After merging, Daum over more than 1600 employees and the more than 600 people will become employees of Kakao Daum Kakao over more than 2,200 employees.

韩国第二大门户网站Daum（全能播放器PotPlayer母公司）今日宣布将与韩国第一移动端IM Kakao Talk的母公司Kakao合并成为Daum Kakao，由于Kakao尚未上市，目前难以估计合并后的Daum Kakao的市值，不过据猜测Daum Kakao的市值可能会达到3万亿韩元（182.6亿人民币）。

两家公司于本月23号签订合并协议，并将于今年8月召开股东大会，预计在10月1日前完成合并。合并后，Daum的1600多名员工和Kakao的600多人员工将全部成为Daum Kakao 2200多名员工。

本次合并对双方都能带来诸多利益。Daum曾是韩国第一大门户网站，而后被主打搜索业务的门户网站Naver超过。现在Daum拥有了Kakao talk这个筹码，或许能在移动端上劫击Naver。而对Kakao来说，除了得到Daum的内容和更成熟的管理体系外，也能够提升其国际地位，在国际市场上走的更远。（via：online.wsj.com，uk.reuters.com）
