　　中新网海口1月6日电(记者 付美斌) 海口市公安局1日下午召开沈桂林涉嫌非法吸收公众存款案新闻发布会通报，近日，海口警方经10个昼夜的连续奋战，成功侦破沈桂林涉嫌非法吸收公众存款案，犯罪嫌疑人沈桂林已于2013年12月28日被海口警方抓获归案。

　　2013年12月18日，海南省公安厅将海口泰特典当责任有限公司董事长、法人代表沈桂林涉嫌非法吸收公众存款案移交海口市公安局侦查，并进行督办。海口警方高度重视，立即组织精干警力成立专案组全力以赴开展侦查工作。

　　经查，2010年2月份以来，犯罪嫌疑人沈桂林以个人名义，用海口泰特典当责任有限公司做担保，允诺月利息2—3%的高额回报，向社会公众非法吸收存款，用于投资发展其它产业和还本付息及个人消费。随着非法吸收公众存款数额增多，还本付息的压力越来越大，资金链断裂。2013年12月初。犯罪嫌疑人沈桂林潜逃香港，后辗转到泰国、柬埔寨、老挝等国家藏匿。2013年12月28日专案组在老挝将犯罪嫌疑人沈桂林抓获。经审讯，犯罪嫌疑人沈桂林对其非法吸收公众存款的犯罪事实供认不讳。据警方初步统计，涉案受害人有200余人，至今已经有150多名受害人报案，涉案金额8亿元人民币。

　　目前，犯罪嫌疑人沈桂林已被刑事拘留，案件还在进一步侦查中。海口警方呼吁尚未报案的受害群众尽早到公安机关报案。(完)
