8月14日，履新后的骆家辉在大使官邸举行媒体见面会，“能作为中国移民的孩子代表美国——我出生的土地，以及我的家庭珍视的美国价值观，站在你们面前，我感到既谦卑又荣幸。”
这位华裔美国人还不忘对媒体宣示自己的“美国人”身份，“我的父母，我的妻子，我们的孩子——我们本人都直接代表美国以及美国作为自由、平等和机会之土地的希望。我，以官方身份，作为服务于总统和美国人民的美国驻华大使，将代表的正是这永久希望和这些价值观。”

除了“平民秀”，骆家辉闯入公众视野的还包括美国驻华使馆监测并公布PM2.5值。2011年11月，美国驻华大使馆通过官网公布的一组空气质量监测数据，引发了不少的“围观”和争议。
不过，骆家辉在接受媒体采访时，以及昨日声明的“工作总结”中，始终认为任内加强两国经贸合作才是自己最大的成绩。在2012年接受《南方人物周刊》访问时，骆家辉曾不无骄傲地表示，“在我来任大使一个半月后，上海等待面签的时间从17天降到5天。”
在昨日的声明中，骆家辉也表示，其任内的努力侧重于通过增加对中国的出口、对美国公司开放更多的市场并促进中国在美国的投资来为美国创造就业机会。
