美国前防长谈中美关系：存在竞争，合作获益
中新社天津3月23日电 (记者 张道正)“尽管中美双方存在竞争，但还有很多领域可以合作共赢。”美国前国防部长威廉·科恩23日在天津南开大学开讲。他表示，就目前看来，两国对抗皆损，合作获益更多。
　　作为知名的政治家和社会活动家，威廉·科恩从政30余年，曾任美国众议员、参议员，并在1997年至2001年担任美国第20任国防部长。
　　此次做客南开大学，科恩演讲的主题是“世界变化格局中的中美关系”。他认为，随着中国的发展和进步，特别是在经济和军事领域，中美两国目前的确存在竞争、冲突的方面，比如南海问题、朝核问题，这是需要两国共同面对的。
　　科恩说，中美双方在很多领域可以合作共赢，比如商业、学术和教育交流。诸多美国企业来华投资，而中国企业也可向美销售产品，双方皆可获利，此举有利中美经贸发展；而学术、教育方面的交流合作，亦可以增进彼此的了解。
　　在环境保护、清洁能源使用、国家社会安全、医疗体系构建等方面，科恩表示，中美两国可以开展更广泛的合作，事实证明，合作双赢，对抗双损。
　　谈到中国经济，科恩说，在经济增长率下降的背景下，如何做好就业保障工作是中国政府需要直面的重要问题，民众需要信任政府的智慧，政府也要全力保障民众的生活。
